#JESSIEWARE
It’s been three years since Jessie Ware released her second album Tough Love. Described by Pitchfork as an album that “moves into the territory of real, messy love”. With both albums now gold-certified in the UK, a million albums sold worldwide and her influence undeniable, Jessie has spent the last three years working on her third album Glass House.
Glass House is a record that celebrates Jessie as a songwriter while contemplating her future as an artist. These new elements mix with original sensibilities, smart attention to detail and powerful lyricism. “I’m so excited to play live. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears went into it.” It’ll also be the first tour with baby Juno.”
#KOVACS
“When I started to perform I was really shy,” she says. “I didn’t even want to move. It was quite overwhelming to be on a stage in front of 40,000 people. Shades Of Black’ reached Number One in the Netherlands and charted across Europe, garnering her 60 million YouTube views, a modeling contract with Viva Paris, a clutch of awards and high-profile sets at major festivals such as Glastonbury, Sziget, Pinkpop and Rock Werchter, so Sharon had to face further fears.
“The album really helped me achieve being happier. I learned a lot about myself and musically. I’m much more confident with the things I make now than I was before.
#MIHAIL
“Ma ucide ea” followed soon, which attracted everyone’s attention thanks to its funk, blues and pop influences, combined with an emotional message about love at first sight. A sleeper hit, it took 6 months for the song to enter the Romanian Top 100 Airplay Chart, with another 3 months passing till it was officially crowned #1. As of June 2018, the song has over 65 million views on Youtube, while also being named the second most airplay song of 2016.
After growing weary of his newfound fame, the artist decided to take a step back from the public spotlight, focusing on traveling, producing and rediscovering his musical identity. The end result was “ Who You Are”, an indie-pop anthem which quickly became a smash - hit.
#NouvelleVague
Since 2011, Nouvelle Vague had stopped recording, focusing on an innovative live show created in collaboration with the mythical Jean-Charles de Castelbajac (Ceremony and Dawn of innocence,) and branching out into different projects: Olivier’s Uncovered Queen of the Stone Age, and Marc’s Bristol, along with his Kwaidan label.
Now they came out with a new album comprised of punk and post-punk standards imbued with the inimitable Nouvelle Vague touch, and, forth first time, a bevy of surprisingCollin/Libaux which prove that the two producers are more than prodigious arrangers.
